Father : I was talking to Ian this morning. I was saying I'd like him to help me decorate the kitchen.

Mother : Wouldn't you like me to give a hand as well ?

Father : Why not ? I must say I didn't expect you to suggest it.

Mother : I must confess I'd prefer the painters to do the work if we could afford it.

Decorate : peindre, tapisser as well : aussi, également

I'd like him to help me. Would'nt you like me to give a hand...

I prefer him not to come tomorrow.

It's too late for me to do it ;

b) après wait (attendre) :

She's waiting for us to come ;

It's time for her to go. / It's vital for her to be in time.
